Golden pomfret is an excellent breed of mariculture. Its main advantage is its fast growth rate. Generally, it can reach the market specification of 4-5 liang as long as it is cultured for 3 to 4 months, and it can reach 500-800 grams a year. Gold pomfret can grow up to 10 kg at most, but it is not that the larger the size, the more popular it is with consumers. Considering the cost of breeding feed, the breeding cycle of basic gold pomfret is generally not more than two years.
At present, China’s southeast coastal areas have cultivated golden pomfret, of which Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan and the southern coast of Fujian are the main production areas of artificial golden pomfret.
