Guangdong ranks the first in the country in terms of total aquatic products and aquaculture output, and is known as “the world’s fishery depends on China, and China’s fishery depends on Guangdong”. In recent years, the development of Guangdong fishery cannot be separated from the support of advanced equipment technology. In particular, Guangdong has made breakthroughs in deep and deep sea aquaculture equipment by building a scientific research and innovation consortium. A number of leading global fishery equipment have been put into production, and the comprehensive strength of the marine economy has been comprehensively improved.
On the vast outer Lingding Ocean in Zhuhai, a floating “artificial island” has attracted much attention. It is China’s first semi-submersible wave energy breeding platform, “Penghu”. As a world-leading deep-sea aquaculture platform, “Penghu” can provide 15000 square meters of aquaculture water, with a maximum of about 300 tons of common fish. The wave energy and solar power generation equipment and energy storage device carried on the platform also achieved full energy self-sufficiency, effectively solving the “pain points” of traditional aquaculture cages in China due to lack of energy supply, poor anti-wind and wave ability, and inability to carry modern aquaculture equipment.
Guangdong is the first province to carry out marine cage culture in China, and also the first province to realize the localization, development and application of deepwater cage. Guangdong’s attempts to go deep into the sea did not stop here. At present, the world’s only large semi-submersible truss cage “Dehai 1”, which has passed the test of a typhoon of magnitude 17, has been industrialized and applied in Guangdong, laying a good foundation for Guangdong Province to ask for protein from modern fisheries to the deep sea. The breeding equipment technology and breeding mode of “Dehai No.1” have been exported to Hong Kong, Hainan, Fujian and other places. Hong Kong will develop this type of cage in the future. The goal of Haosai Machinery in 2023 is to promote the company’s innovative technology of liftable floating and submersible metal net cage and anti-biological adhesion high clear alloy fish net to major breeding centers across the country. Guangdong is one of the important goals.
In Zhanjiang, the capital of China’s golden pomfret, there is a slogan: “Norway has salmon, and Zhanjiang has golden pomfret”. At a processing plant near a wharf in Zhanjiang, freshly caught golden pomfret is transported from here to all parts of the country. The excellent fresh-locking technology and distinctive deep processing technology have led many circulation traders to order fish early. In 2022, the output of net cage culture of golden pomfret in the province will exceed 100000 tons, and the market price will reach a record high. Golden pomfret has become the “golden key” for the local market of 100 million yuan.
